RICE

Since the late 1980s’, HBI has been at the forefront of promoting aromatic rice in continental Europe in addition to other markets of the world and has largely been responsible for the rapid growth of the basmati and jasmine segments of these markets. We are recognised as key suppliers of basmati and Thai fragrant rice where we serve about 10% of the continental European market. Our market expertise is supported by blue chip fully integrated rice millers who have decades of experience in rice, produce top quality aromatic rice and have an ethical and highly reliable consumer-oriented approach. This expertise enables HBI to be a cornerstone of the European rice market and an excellent partner for rice importers and exporters.

TALLOW

The world’s production of rendered animal fats and greases (called “tallow”) is around 15 mil mt which represents around 8% of the global triglycerides production and ranks tallow as the most important triglyceride after alm, soya and rapeseed oils. As a privileged partner of animal by-products suppliers from all species (bovine, pork, poultry, fish, multi-species) and all categories (1,2 and 3), HBI is serving different markets including oleochemicals, food, feed, biodiesel, etc.

USED COOKING OILS (UCO)

Europe is the main UCO market since the Renewable Energy Directive has mandated non-food raw materials for biofuels. HBI has developed privileged partnerships with UCO suppliers from all over the world with diverse qualities to serve the main producers in Europe. Thanks to our global vision in related markets, like vegetable oils, we can advise you on the UCO market trends.

ACIDS OILS

HBI has developed privileged partnerships with suppliers of acid oils around the world. Among the main applications for acid oils are feed, burning/heating and feedstocks for biodiesel production. The strategical presence of HBI offices in the main production zones of soybean oil and palm oil (Argentina and South-East Asia) give us access to many suppliers of different qualities.

BIODIESEL

HBI has been a pionner in trading the first isotanks of PME from Malaysia to Europe in 2004. Since then, the biodiesel industry consolidated and has seen rises and falls of many market players. To differentiate itself from the traditional traders, HBI has now chosen to deal in biodiesel niche markets where non-EN14214 biodiesel grades can find home.
